About

Doug and Kris became joint members of the American Quarter Horse Association in the early 1990s. However, their fascination with the grulla color and Pretty Buck breeding traces back to the 1970s, when a member of Kris’s saddle club owned a remarkable Pretty Buck dun son with an exceptional disposition and stunning beauty.

While their admiration for the grulla color is profound, Doug and Kris prioritize essential qualities such as conformation and disposition in their breeding endeavors. Similar to Blue, all their horses boast heavy musculature and calm temperaments. Many customers have utilized progeny from their breeding program for various purposes, including halter, trail, and cow class performances in the show ring. Their bloodlines carry a legacy of achievements in roping, cutting, reining, and, notably, general trail riding for the average rider. Despite having a modest number of horses, each one is meticulously selected from years of careful breeding. Gratefully acknowledging their past customers, Doug and Kris express immense gratitude for the opportunity to place their horses in homes across numerous states in the Lower 48, as well as in Canada, Mexico, Wales, England, France, Germany, the Czech Republic, Sweden, and Luxembourg.

Visitors are encouraged to explore their informative articles on the majestic grulla color, authored by Kris before the surge in grulla interest. These pioneering articles, published in seven different countries, have been widely circulated and referenced on various websites over the years. While acknowledging the passage of time, they continue to offer valuable insights into identifying grulla horses and methods for breeding them.

Doug and Kris extend a warm invitation to visit their website and, if possible, to meet their horses in person. They welcome discussions about their own horses as well as those of visitors.
